I've recently discovered an animation that was rendered using the measured redshift of all 10,000 galaxies in the Hubble Ultra Deep Field image.
I've written a short script that leads you through a quick history of both deep field images and this video ends with a fly-through of the Ultra Deep Field.
Every galaxy in the image is in its proper distance as viewed from the telescope line of sight.
(Continued from initial comment) And as you mentioned: we could use what was previously war technology as a means of salvation instead. Looks like you do have some optimism after all.
That’s what I was implying: very distant generations from now, maybe even over a million years into the future. But it sounded like you said: “we’ll NEVER be capable of exploring the solar system.” No one knows the potential or limits of the human race! Nothing is absolute. We’re a very young species…recorded civilization has only been around for around 10,000 years! Given enough time, who knows what we could blossom into? (If we don’t succumb to extinction. Self-induced, or otherwise.)
I'm usually a glass half full person and the most optimistic if you ask those who know me, but i am a realist and tell it like it is with no sugar coating.
Honestly unless you're talking generations upon generations from now of our people then we won't even begin to even scratch the surface buddy. Sorry just how it is.
One thing we have perfected though is war so should a comet per say head our way then for sure the war lords around the world have enough nukes to stop the extinction of mankind
Your pessimism is outstanding. How can be so sure of that presumption? Just because we lack the scientific capability to explore the solar system now doesn’t mean that it’s an impossible feat in the future. It’ll be hard, and it’s not going to happen in our life time, but our descendants could easily explore the solar system if technology becomes advanced enough. Migrating the galaxy will be tougher of course. But It’s certainly not going to happen if we just give up and say it’s impossible.
Thank you Tony for this video. Thank you NASA for Hubble. Thank you American people for placing this telescope in space and bringing its images back for all of humanity.
ughh telescopes are awesome!!!

I can't even comprehend or get a perspective of the vastness of the universe from this video. Incredible work.
