There have been persistent rumors that Joe Jackson was a tough disciplinarian, who abused his children. Michael was the spitting image of his dad. Every time he looked in the mirror, he saw the same demanding jerk, who made his early years miserable. Given someone in Michaels financial position, would it be a stretch for that person to do everything in his power to erase the image of the monster in his life and in his mirror.

It is obviously true that he had plastic surgery but I seriously don't understand why Michael Jackson was picked out of all the celebs and scrutinised....and anyway he DID have a skin desease because they found vitiligo in his autopsy it was on the news an confirmed- plus look at prince he's got White patches too!

I completely understand that. Skin bleaching can often help in aesthetic conditions, which is what it always is. The lyrics talk about it as he's "been a victim of a selfish kind of love" which the comment above understands so eloquently. This also makes a point, a bigger one actually, about how white artists, producers, and labels have "covered" black music, blatantly ripped it off. Look at Dick Clark's career! "Black gets whiter musically so why not cosmetically?"
