can i use a dremel?
-
i wouldnt do that to a sword...lets just say later down the line if you even tend to sell it you wont get full price for it... it would be worth alot more if you dont try to clean it up like that... (father is a gun dealer / sword)

I inherited an old 1950 plymouth and most of the bodies surface is rusty. Could i use this strategy for it? I'll probably repaint the entire car anyways.

@japinoy1234 Don't do these things on painted surfaces, but they work great on chrome and bare metals. A surface which is properly painted should NOT rust anyway. I use these processes to clean and polish the chrome on my motorcycles.

@japinoy1234 This works great on chrome - but not painted areas. Don't use emory cloth, either - only 4/0 or finer steel wool. I've been removing rust and other stains from my motorcycles like this for years.

you know men i have a sword my 3rd grandfather made it and it's full of rest and i attend to make it look like new does this work with it and do you recomend for buy any thing would help more in the process of removal
note : the age of sowrd between 190 to 230 years

@king911love Just use the WD40 and the finest grade of steel wool - no emery cloth! It will polish it up nicely. If you want a smoother, shinier finish, look into using jeweler's rouge and a buffing wheel.

is this method good for removing rust from lets say ww2 helmet ?

Absolutely. Of course, you'll remove the paint too. Maybe you could repaint the steel pot to its original OD green color.
