  • Your tape is a weeeee bit stretched, but they all get that way in first generation Schulmerich Tape Players (Viking Model P). The later tape deck made by Amilon handled the tapes much better.

  • @Xerox6085I Well it is from about 1969/70. It was used daily until 2000 or so. Right now I just have it striking the time I don't have it playing hymns automatically.

  • Could you please post the chiming hours on youtube? And, who's carillon is this? How many rods does it have?

  • It is my Carillon it's in my bedroom ;-) I have 25 rods.

  • Hi,

Do you have any videos of Schulmrich carillon chiming every hour, or of you playing the keyboard using the rods? If you don't, then could you please make it and post it on Youtube? Thanks.

  • I don't have any videos of it Chiming, it only chimes the hours it does not have a Westminster or anything.

  • My home town parish has a 1954 Schulmerich Basilican unit with 25 rods and a roll player. The thing still has its original tube amplifier and sounds every fifteen minutes from 8 AM to 9 PM with Westminster Quarters, plays hymns (no longer in the hymnals!) every afternoon, and rings the Angelus and Mass peals. These things were built like tanks. I would never encourage any church to buy electronic bells instead of real ones, but if that were the only choice, I would recommend Schulmerich.

  • @Tom1980nj So you have 25 English Bells with a Cart Tape player in addition. I have a Tyme Stryke 256 which was designed for Universities and Colleges. 7 English Bell rods for the Westminster and a Cartridge Tape Player. It plays 4 times a day and you can call it and hear it over the phone.

  • Yes! Yes! this is the exact sounding churchbells that I once heard from Christ Church in Port Jefferson Station N.Y. on Terryville Road. I can just cry that sound's soo beautiful and brings about so many memories since that church had decided to silence their bells.

  • the Methodist church in my town place that same song but the bells are played through loud speakers
