On July 23, 1991, Chicago Cub Andre Dawson gets thrown out of the game against the Cincinnati Reds for arguing with home plate umpire Joe West. Dawson then starts tossing equipment onto the field from the dugout. Later, Reds' reliever Rob Dibble throws at the legs of Chicago baserunner Doug Dascenzo. "A wild night at Wrigley Field."

  • Apparently, Joe West has always been a jackass.

  • This resulted in a one-game suspension and a $1K fine for Dawson. He paid the fine with a check, and on the check memo line wrote "donation to the blind." For that alone he deserved his place in the HOF.

  • For everybody talking about that shirt, just wait until it comes back in style. Yall know yall gonna have one. HAHAHA.

  • Not just the shirt...the mullet. Oh, the humanity.

  • I remember watching this game!...I miss those years watching the Hawk in his prime...too bad the Cubbies couldn't produce a winner back then...Dawson & Sandberg deserved better talent around them.

  • Joe West. Figures.

  • favorite player of all time...the Hawk
