Chernobyl: 21 years later

The accident occurred day 26 of April of 1986, in the Nuclear Plant of Chernobil (originally called Vladimir Lenin) in the Ukraine (then part of the Soviet Union). The worse nuclear accident of the history of the nuclear energy is considered, producing a radioactivity cloud that reached the Soviet Union until the United kingdom. Great areas of the Ukraine and Russia very had been contaminated, resulting in the evacuation and reassentamento of approximately 200 a thousand people. About 60% of radioactivity bielorrusso fell in territory. Currently it exists until a game that approaches this subject: S.T.A.L.K.E.R - Shadow of Chernobyl.

O acidente ocorreu dia 26 de abril de 1986, na Usina Nuclear de Chernobil (originalmente chamada Vladimir Lenin) na Ucrânia (então parte da União Soviética). É considerado o pior acidente nuclear da história da energia nuclear, produzindo uma nuvem de radioatividade que atingiu a União Soviética até o Reino Unido. Grandes áreas da Ucrânia e Rússia foram muito contaminadas, resultando na evacuação e reassentamento de aproximadamente 200 mil pessoas. Cerca de 60% de radioatividade caiu em território bielorrusso.
Atualmente existe até um jogo que aborda esse tema: S.T.A.L.K.E.R - Shadow of Chernobyl.

The absolute stupidty of man, to tame forces of the nature that we are not supposed to tame ... This is the result of one of the biggest mistakes we will ever encounter in history. We will never have the resources to decontaminate this piece of earth during the lifetimes of us who lives this century and for many coming generations... Just a little correction. This town is called Prypiat - not Chernobyl. Chernobyl is another city, situated in Ukraine after what the plant was named.

skiskight, anyone could have this result. It was a chain of events over the course of 3 work shifts, and any one of those links in the chain could have been broken, averting the disaster. This could happen in America, Russia, Germany, the UK, anywhere.
