In Germany, gas costs (converted) around 6$ per gallon. You spent 40$ for your gas. in germany it would be 90$. I'm so jealous right now.

Food Safety 101: Do not defrost meat in warm or hot water. Warm/hot water will likely put parts of the chicken into the temperature "danger zone" (between 40 and 140°F), which will allow for the growth of bacteria.
Put it (in a zip-lock bag) in a bowl/sink of cold water. Cold water is still warmer than frozen chicken, so it speeds up the defrost time. If the water starts getting warm, switch it out for more cold water.

A fast way to defrost chicken is putting it under your armpits. My sister makes me do it and the chicken defrosts moderately-fast. Though, make sure you didn't just come from the gym and also put it in a bag.
