Punctual morning departure from KLIA bound for Stansted (1 April 2009) onboard their first A340-313X named 'Xcalibur' and registered 9M-XAB - heading North overflying Penang, Langkawi and Phuket before I slumbered down to a snore on a rather comfortable XL seat for the duration of the flight.

This flight will go daily soon and Air Asia X is taking delivery of their second A340 which has already been painted in a special "Oakland Raiders" livery.

  • @Shakemagroovethangg what makes you think that a343 is an underpowered a/c? just because for a long haul like KLIA - Stansted, it must take full tank fuel which makes the a/c very heavy and thus taking a longer strip for t/o. t/o time depends upon many factors such as a/c weight, OAT, rwy pressure, wind direction, etc. a340s are very powerful.

  • Switching on electronic device on plane won't cause plane to crash. Only making phone call on cell phone are banned on flights.

  • A very very big thank you to Tony & the gang for making all the pakciks & the makciks, afford to fly to see their children studying in UK!! We are very sad on the latest news on air asia finally withdrawing european routes. We're going to miss it & would be very excited if air asia decided to resurrect those routes in the future. We will wait!

  • Very long takeoff run! It had to be very heavy, I suppose...

  • I like air asia x

  • Nice video! Cant wait to see these at Gatwick instead of Stansted starting next month!

  • what the fobb are you people on about ???

  • @mu54f1r you forgot that every airliner tries to use up all the runway to save fuel on takeoff

Nah, the navigational devices onboard the aircraft are built to withstand interference from electronic devices. Whenever a plane takes to the skies it is surrounded by thousands of signals from phones. It is mostly the distraction factor with a slight amount of interference with ground - aircraft communication (whilst taxiing).
