Big Wednesday Dreams

The biggest surf in two years hit SoCal on Wednesday, Dec. 5th, 2005. This is a look at the waves in parts of Los Angeles and Ventura Counties, with surfing footage shot at Rincon Pt. and Stearns Wharf in Santa Barbara. Errata: All the dates/times in the video should read "pst" instead of "pdt".

The surf report grade scale has been lowered a notch because the waves are mostly poor to lucky fair in Southern California, let alone, it's so crowded that no one gets to perform really good. When a good wave comes in they just statue-surf. Yet many who get out of the water after a session claim to be "stoked" and they might even say it's "perfect". Look up 10 year old skater in a pool to see the new designed parks and some real aggro action. S. Califonia has become a dishonest sales tactic.

What we have here is someone who aspires to be a filmmaker, yet hasn't the first clue as to how to go about it. The Beach Boys mix is pitifully put together - the images poorly photographed. But the great mystery is why this muddled film was made.

I liked that you got a lot of different spots, but I honestly thought it would have been better if you just focused on the places with surfers. Also, the Beach Boys are timeless, but they seem more appropriate when matched with surfing from a lazy, and small day as oppposed to a day that's supposed to be the biggest of the year. Just my 2 cents.
