Onomatopoeia project for sophomore Type II class.
Students chose 15-20 seconds of a piece of instrumental music to investigate how typography can be used to visualize musical structures, such as pitch, rhythm and tempo. After exploring ways of mapping the music through the use of mark- making, students were to create first a print piece that typographically represented the music segment, and second an animated typographic sequence that expressed the fundamental structure of the selection.
