Having not finished Colony Wars (and now not being able to find a copy)....is this a bad ending? I cant imagine what sequence would lead to this...

If the league has to end up fighting in alpha centuari because of little success in draco, or having to secure diaomidies then a civil war occurs. If you win the civil war, the navy decides to give the league independence from the empire, and the league in return normalizes relations with the empire.
