Presented by Mark Congiusta, Senior User Experience Manager, Cisco Systems VTG User Design Engineering
Developing products for global technology consumers doesn't always leave lots of room for details like "user-centric design methodologies" once deadlines, budgets, product owners, technical specifications and established this-is-the-way-we've-always-done-it attitudes rear their frightening visages. Fortunately, it's relatively easy to convince people that a great end-user experience is one of the easiest ways in which to add to the company's bottom line. Getting them to devote the requisite time and attention to these pursuits is the hard part. Awesome Interaction Design is fast becoming the point of differentiation in a commoditized technology product and service sector and those who choose to ignore the power of superior design and compelling interactivity are doomed to failure. We will look at the myriad ways in which user experience acts as the Darwinian adjudicator between a product people want to use and one that makes them decry man's inhumanity to man.
