  • WAR IS PEACE.

    FREEDOM IS SLAVERY.

    IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH.

Break out of the left/right paradigm or we're cooked people!

  • Ahhh, gotcha. I agree, it seems a great number of people, especially in the United States, have this reflex to see you has unpatriotic or thinking you're putting your country at risk when you're being critical of military policies. Or even worse: that you're incompetent in those matters. Fortunately there numbers are dwindling every year.

  • oh heavens no! I don't mean to imlpy banning landmines is pacifist, they need to be banned for all the damage being done.

I was trying to say that it seems people now misunderstand peace. Either they mix peace with pacifism or their mindset on peace is somehow perverted with the hippie movement.

Peace is good but should not be seen as something that it is not.

  • Strange you invoke pacifism here, because it seems to me it has no relevance to the topic at hand. Are you somehow implying that banning land mines is a pacifist move, and that we need land mines to foster peace?

  • Obama disgusts me. If he had a shred of integrity & decency he would've politely refused 2 accept Nobel Peace Prize. A man conducting 2 wars w/no end in sight & w/no goal why they're being waged in 1st place except hegemony & controlling Asian subcontinent doesn't deserve it. He's not even qualified 2 receive it. Obie is all rhetoric & no deeds. Nobel Testament clearly states recipient should add to understanding among nations, reduce standing armies & hold peace conferences. Obie has done none.

  • It is with a great sadness that so often that we forget what peace means and how it truly differs from pacifism.
