Macaws opening palm nuts in the wild. Check out how this guy balances half a nut on top of another, easy as you please. Excerpted from Pollyvision: Strictly for Parrots, for full length and full quality, check out http://www.parrots.org/index.php/shoptosave/pollyvision

  • I hope the movie Rio doesn't result in a surge of people adopting macaws and then abandoning them :(

  • its nice to see macaws and parrots holding their food in their feet and eating...

    how sweet

  • @Nero46able Perhaps you should do some research on bird poaching. It is most often the indigenous people of a country that catch the birds and smuggle them off to be sold for their own greed of money they know they can get from American and Europe. Watch the videos of birds being poached on parrotsdotorg's channel - clearly those are LOCALS trapping and making by selling those birds.

  • @BiTTjl Good point. Macaw size cages are generally VERY expensive. But there is a lot more to think about than expense. Birds are a HUGE amount of work. I spend at least an hour in the morning making breakfast and cleaning. I wash dishes (bird dishes) three times a day. They need out time, and individual attention. And not even mentioning when one gets sick... ugh...huge responsibility. Anyone who considers getting a bird should think about all of that first so they are prepared.
