Ednita Nazario
A passionate, intense and unmistakable professional musician since the age of seven, Ednita is undoubtedly Puerto Rico's finest female pop export.
With her ambitious exploration of pop, Ednita has earned innumerable awards as well as multiple gold and platinum records throughout her career.
She manages to reinvent herself constantly, always innovating her musical style, keeping a firm grip on the pulse of today's sound and bridging it effortlessly with her classic sound. This may help explain why her loyal legion of fans is forever on the up raise.
Her status as Puerto Rico's first lady of pop has teamed her up with such international icons as; Ricky Martin, Julio Iglesias, Jose Feliciano, Air Supply's Russell Hitchcock & Placido Domingo, to name a few.
For her international presence in countries like Mexico, Chile, Venezuela, Spain and Argentina, the National Puerto Rican Day Parade honored her twice as their International Godmother and once as Grand Marshall of the popular event. Her humanitarian heart also led to collaborations with nonprofit organizations such as UNICEF, Fight against Cancer and Artists against Aids.
In 1998, Nazario makes another leap. She makes her Broadway debut in Paul Simon's controversial musical '"The Capeman'". Ednita is casted for the lead female role of Esmeralda in Paul Simon's controversial Broadway musical, The Capeman. The lead male role was shared by singers Marc Anthony and Ruben Blades. For her demanding character, Ednita had to age Esmeralda from 25 to 65 years during the story. Her astounding performance earned her a Drama Desk Best Supporting Actress Nomination and won her the prestigious Theatre World Award in the same category. Ednita had never acted in theatre before!
