This is a test run of the new DTMF-activated remote control for the Thunderbolt 1000t. It consists of a Viking RC-3 DTMF decoder, wired directly to the telephone line, and accessed by any phone with the access PIN code. Once entered, the AR timer can be addressed to start either Attack or Alert, and also can be canceled by remote.

  • Bad hiccup, You gonna fix it?

  • It's something to do with the delay relay timing. I haven't really tried to fool with it, but I'm aware of the issue. It only happens on when I engage the attack wail mode, and usually I just use the manual mode, and I wait until the blower stops before starting the next cycle.

  • We do have them now & then, but the original siren systems in California were for civil defense/Cold War (Russian Nukes, mainly the fear). Now the new sirens are for either tsunami warning along the coast, or other things like prison escape and nuclear power plant, dam break, etc etc. Mine's not part of a system; just a collectors item.

  • It's mine... I got two of them from another siren collector in Milwaukee, WI in 2007. This one shown, came from Mississippi originally, I believe. It was probably installed there for storm warnings, since it's serial number shows it was made in the 1980s at the very end of the Cold War (nearly the end of production on the Thunderbolts).

  • Archon, right?

  • Correct!

  • Cool vid! :)

Though I think watching this led me to having a weird dream some time ago... I was at home and used a TV remote to somehow activate a public siren (Thunderbolt 1000T) a couple blocks from my house.

  • It isn't illegal, since we're in an area without noise laws, and there isn't any "official" siren system in place that I could be considered to be falsely sounding. As far as the Building & Safety Dept is concerned, it's a flag pole :)

  • Do you think you can post a video about that system?

  • Actually, this is a 4/5 port Thunderbolt, unlike the common 5/6 ports.

  • chopper level 1 right

  • Wait a minute, California? Why would they have a thunderbolt there unless if there is a nuclear plant near by? I live in california so I know.

  • TORNADOES?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
