Brandon High School, in a suburb of Tampa, Florida, is home to a wrestling program that began the 2007-08 season with a 439 match winning streak, a streak that lasted 34 years and was the national record for the most consecutive wins by any high school team in any sport. Team members have trained since the age of four or five to earn a coveted spot on the team, and often they are the sons and brothers of former Brandon champions.
These young wrestlers know that the pride and prestige of being a Brandon wrestler comes with the weight of expectation - by fans, alumni and their Hall of Fame Coach Russ Cozart - that the record last forever. But what they come to learn is that only after they lose will the true measure of the character be taken. And the kids, the coach and the town learn what it really means to call yourself a champion.
