What a voice,such a gorgeous tone.
I like Rod Stewart but he has nowhere near the power or control of this woman.
She's undoubtedly the best female singer ever in the U.K.

@PhilipK100 When you say no one can sing like Rod. I am guesssing that's a good thing. Elkie 's voice is FAR superior. She can sing . Rock, Blues, Jazz. Great voice.

@aardvaarkisgood Better my arse... NO one sings like Rod.. not even Mick.. mind you I'd like to hear Mick take a crack at a song like this.. or even Robert , I can even imagine Jimmy gettng a mandolin and having a go at such a cover but no-one does it better than Rod and Ron!!!

My Dad had her LP i guess in the early '80's, me and my brother used to listen to it all the time and this song stuck with me, among many. I have to say, not a patch on good old Sinead O'Connor, now she has a voice that would make (insert comment). Also, Marianne Fathful was in this time frame, she ripped off Leonard's song about her namesake, unless i guess it was written for her....

paperbark and fatrascal must have seen her with Robert Palmer in Vinegar Joe, probably stood next to you. Regards.She is heaven sent , saw Rumer this year in Brighton, another Fabulous Female voice, i am still getting over Dusty leaving us.Allison Moyet , supreme. we dont do do bad.keep writing and keep remembering.
