News anchor suicide? Killed man, own career in DWI wreck

Wednesday, March 14, a friend of mine told me that WXII's Tolly Carr had committed suicide in light of the DWI charge he faced and potential other charges in association with the death of Casey Bokhoven. Carr was at the wheel of his pickup truck Sunday, March 11, 2007 around 3:40 am as he drove through a construction zone on West First Street in WS. Carr veered onto the sidewalk, hitting and killing Bokhoven, before crashing into a building.

I have always enjoyed watching Tolly on Channel 12, in his various roles- sports reporter, general news reporter, feature reporter and more recently morning news anchor. The thought that he had committed or attempted suicide was unsettling and sad. WXII briefly addressed the rumors in this report.

Meanwhile, Casey Bokhoven's friends and family gathered for a private memorial Friday night at Forsyth Country Club where he had worked as a chef.

911 calls made immediately after the accident were also released.
