If you dont know about this river, you are probably living in a cave. It is published everywhere. Please stop acting like its a huge secret. That drives me nuts.
Nice 2 pounder. I love McCloud. The river and the reservoir both have hogs. I caught an 8 pound brown trolling McCloud Reservoir working the drop offs around the island.
Please stop downloading video of the McCloud. After over 30 years of fishing it myself, every year there are more and more idiots on the stream. My family has fished it every year for 38 years straight and we love it more than any other stream around. Please protect this beautiful stream. Always CATCH AND RELEASE!
good fish. great scenery. try fishing the davidson river in brevard, n.c. next to the hatchery. they are wild and not released in that area. many big pigs in that area. if it wasn't 3+ i wasn't interested. it's catch and release. look up davidson river on google. you can throw 22 discos any time of year and catch some monsters. catch em up.

In the 1960's my family was friends with
Les Herrick who was a legend fishing the
upper McCloud east of town below Big Springs. Huge rainbows with bright orange stripe taken there. Very tough
fishing ... Now believe all Hearst Property
and no access
