--->Christina might hit high notes, but it doesn't automatically makes her great singer. In fact, her voice is pretty annoying. Whitney and Celine - yes, they are wonderful. But they could never sing like Karen, and Karen couldn't sing like them. Each of them is great on her own way, with or without high notes. This is not correct to compare between them and say that Whitney or Celine better just because they can belt. Not all songs need belting and demonstrating the vocal abilities.

It's really weird what you said, you know... Since Karen Carpenter is considered by many as one of the greatest singers of all time with very unique voice.. She didn't have to be Whitney, Celine and especially not Christina to be great. I wouldn't say she is better, since they sing in different styles. As it was said, she didn't need to do vocal acrobatics to show the greatness of her voice. Please note the difference between range of the voice and it's beauty.

I've heard a lot of renditions of this brilliant song from many artists, just not to be biased in my opinion, and now I'm convinced more than ever - this composition forever belongs to Mr. and Ms. Carpenter. Karen's one of a kind voice and Richard's "smart" arrangements made their version a definitive one. And I'm not telling it because I'm their fan. There are songs that I like more in other people's renditions. But this one owned by them.
