I've been asked so many times what program, what settings and how I do my 720p HD clips.

My goal was to have a good quality, not a perfect but a good one with a small file size.

Video Editing Software: VirtualDub ( http://www.virtualdub.org/ )

Forget about K-Lite MEGA Codec Pack, this was 2009. Now it's 2011, get x264vfw http://komisar.gin.by . x86 = 32 Bit, x86_64 = 64 Bit.

My system specs are:
CPU: E6600 @ 3GHZ, 9×333 @ 58 °C Load
Cooler: Coolermaster Hyper L3
MoBo: P5B Deluxe/WiFi-AP Bios Rev. 1236
RAM: 4GB A-Data Vitesta Ext. Edt. 800Mhz@833Mhz
GPU: PowerColor HD4870 1GB
HDD: 2xMaxtor 6B200M0 (200GB) & 1xSamsung HD501LJ (500 GB)
PSU: be quiet Dark Power Pro 550W
TFT: 28? Hanns.G HG281D
OS: Win XP Pro SP3 32Bit

A few extra notes to the video:

When you have uploaded your clip on YouTube and YouTube processed it, the quality then will be lowered again. Theres nothing you or I can do about that, its up to YouTube.

  • How do I add codecs to Vdub

  • @KucharAD You install the codecs.

  • I followed this guide before and it really works. But I've come to do it again and found that after installing VirtualDub and the codecs, when I select 'Configure' on this codec I do not get any tabs, so there are a lot less settings than you show here. Is this still going to work or am I doing something wrong?

  • @dtConfect You're using a different x264 codec. There's a couple around. Since this video has been made, I've switched the codecs I'm using. I'm using Komisar's x264. Link in the description.

  • @Mamboi Yeah that's where I got it. I exported anyhow and it seemed just fine. Thanks for this awesome video by the way - it's hard to find decent information on this sort of thing.

  • @WlPPAN make shore that when your cropping the video its all the same numbers ihade the same problem if it helps got to my youtube and ill put a tut

  • Great result, thanks a lot!

  • @WlPPAN And if you REALLY are set to record your screen with VDub you can go to my blog donsalva.com and search for "Real-Time Screen capture/recording easily done with VirtualDub".

You can try it if it works, if it doesn't then I'm sorry. There's plenty of alternatives to record your screen.

  • @WlPPAN Though VDub was originally designed to record anime shows from TV (it still can, I've no idea how however.) as stated by phaeron, the VDub creator.

  • @Mamboi oh..then someone tricked me into that..crap :( thanks anyway for fast response
