I have the 580 ii too :D & beginning to experiment with high speed sync and 2nd curtain - like your videos keep up the good work.

@StefanDall The D80 is a few years old now and I was really speaking on newer models. Obviously there may be some older models that can do this as well.

@boilerjack Sort of.... It will relay and sync to speeds of 1/200th of a second. Making it very hard to do a lot of outdoor stuff. More light, combined with shallow DOF apertures, mean high speed sync would be required. It is quite common to need to sync to speeds faster than 1/1000th of a second. The 7D does not have High Speed Sync built in. Meaning a 580 or an STE would still be required.
