And for the naysayers who claim this was an unnecessary signing need to consider a few things.

United are very versatile these days, with plenty of players being able to play in various different positions. Jones can play CB/FB/CM, Valencia winger/FB, Smalling CB/FB, Welbeck striker/winger, Young winger/striker, Rooney can play pretty much anywhere.

This brings further width to an already wide squad, and even with 8 injuries we can field a side capable of beating Fulham at the cottage 0-5.

As a two decades lover of football and Manchester United I've seen many players come and go.

I was very, very pleased to see United sign Ashley Young. Not because of his tremendous ability on the pitch, but because of his personality and attitude. He seems like a genuinely good person and model professional. Those are rare, and I'm thrilled he signed for us.
