Traeger guarantees their quality by offering a 3 year manufacturer warranty. We love our Traeger and have had no issues with it! This weekend we smoked tri-tip and beef ribs. Both came out terrific. On Sunday we smoked beef jerky and this was incredible as well!
Having a clean grill is the best way to avoid rats or other rodents. Traeger has a easy clean drain system which drains the grease and dripping downhill into the bucket. If you put foil on the drip pan then all you need to do is throw away the foil. The porcelan covered grill is very easy to clean. If the grill is hot all you need to wipe with a paper towel.
The wood pellets have a 99% burn rate and thus a 1% ash. The fans blow most of the ash out of the firepot and the ash settles at the base of the grill. Every 15 times you cook or so you would clean out your ashes. You can do this easily with a hand vacuum.
Everything is water proof and will grill in the rain. The circuit board for the electronic thermostat is protected from the elements so it can be rained on. The pellets are also protected from the rain/snow. We do recommend that you have a cover on the grill when not in use but this is not necessarly required. Traeger is an amazing grill.
With it sitting out on the patio like that, how does it fair in the rain? Does water get into it? Or do you keep it undercover till you pull it out to use?
@geonerd have you had problems with yours?

All you need to know about Traeger is that they are cheap, overpriced, Made-in-China garbage.
