  • Makes you think why Pol Pot ordered the execution of the talented, creative people like Pan Ron, Ros Sereysothea, Sinn Sissamouth, et al. Do you ever suspect he believed that, like Che Guevara, he saw jazz and rock'n'roll as instruments of "American imperialist propaganda"? After all, the dance did start on the street where the American advertising industry is based.

  • Is there a modern-day karaoke version of this song?

  • The dance is somewhat similar to thr electric slide

  • As Brad says in "The Rocky Horror Picture Show", after he and Janet have uncomfortably watched the dancers at the Annual Transylvanian Convention do "The Time Warp" - "SAY! Do any of you guys know how to MADISON?"

Obviously, in Cambodia the answer is "Yes!"

  • thanks for sharing...

  • ...would be*

  • Thanks for the interesting historical dance facts, Jeff! I had no idea this dance was originally an American dance. It's a beautiful and fun dance! I think it would interesting to see people in America doing this kind of dance again. Thank you for posting the video and the basic dance lesson. I will definitely use it to help me learn. :)

  • Aw, it's not that hard. It just takes a bit of practice. I learned it when I was 13. (i'm 14 now) I reckon you'll learn it too.

    (:
