NOTICE: This is not an official video by The Crackles. The song is about me, uses my words and the words of Robin Miller without formal agreement, and I am using it under the principle of mutual creative rights and the authority of a verbal agreement. Until such time as The Crackles either agree to drop the song and never play it again or make a music video that is of mutual benefit I see no reason to remove this video from public view. It was my impression that they had given me the green light to promote their song until it gets serious media attention. I waited over a year for them to do something with it, but they did not. If it goes viral they may end up thanking me, instead of exploiting my personal life story and making me feel unwelcome. The video does not represent the image of The Crackles and is simply inspired by their song. They seem intent on arguing their right to exploit my personality for gain. Until they show a willingness to come to a mutual amicable agreement I see no reason why I should not be allowed to show my appreciation for the song about me. "The Free Advice Man" song by The Crackles, a UK Psychedelic, Big Beat, Funk music band. Music video a JP Fenyo Production. The Song is about me, uses my words and I have ample proof of this; including numerous e-mails and the fact that it is based on words taken, without consent, from an article about me written by Robin Miller, who was then a staff writer/journalist with the City Paper of Baltimore: one of the e-mails from Mr. Jim Guynan, band-leader confirms this. This is protected under GNU and other artistic copyright statutes.
The song is based on an article about The Original New York City Free Advice Man, also known simply as The Free Advice Man, that appeared in the Baltimore City Paper, a free weekly newspaper, in 1991.
The article was titled "Piece of Mind: The Free Advice Man Offers Wisdom To Troubled Passersby" by Robin Miller, page 4, July 19, 1991, City Paper, Baltimore, Maryland, USA. The song was written by Jim Guynan in 1991 and this recording was released by The Crackles band in 2008.
