  • Thanks for sharing.. I started raising butterflies last summer. I started with a purchased kit of painted lady caterpillars. It was a great experience. This year I am going to raise them on my own. I live in RI,my season is short. Last year I started planning my garden. I have a rock garden with tons of native nectar plants and along the back side I planted milkweed & butterfly weed as host plants. I need to find out what other host plants are native to RI for other types of butterflies.

  • Hi @TouchedByAngels2: google the butterflies you want to attract to find their host plant. Painted ladies like thistles & Hollyhocks. Echinacea is good for nectar & comes from cool Zones :)
