Control of the laser is accomplished via muscle control using an Emotiv Epoc, Emokey, and the Epoc control panel. When I blink hyperterminal sends a 'l' to the arduino hooked up to the servo which turns left. When I smile it send an 'r' to the arduino and the laser turns right. I know I know, I said thought control, but I wanted to make it move....under control. Oh ya, the servo and arduino are from sparkfun.com.

  • I dont think you need a brain-computer interface device to control anything with that enthusiastic smile of yours.

On a serious note, how about some push and pull actions, to maybe control a continuous rotation servo in forward and reverse directions?

  • I didn't have much luck with the cognitiv stuff. Muscle control had the best results.

  • @askdrax wut the hell is wrong with you

  • Consider! Left blink = Left turn, Right blink = Right turn. Head back = Laser up, etc.

I don't have my Epoc, yet. But thank for the proof of concept.

  • sweet! lol! awesome!

  • Did you notice that your 'interest' in the YouTube audience had an effect on the behavior of the device? Did it have a noticeable impact on the way that the device perceived (if I may use the term for a machine...) your intention?

Did you record other videos? Was the effect on the device notably unique in any way for this particular video?

I heard you say to me "Stop talking so it works" in subtle language when you began this video :) (ask me about that, if it interests you)

  • this.... makes everything i have ever lived for... totally worth it.

I'm so stoked for this to become mainstream.
