Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel 1

I brought Andrew and Justin to my neighborhood of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, in mid July for the opening of the festa del giglio. 150 men lift a 50ft, 4 ton holy statue with a band, singer, and preist. They carry it up and down the street all day in honor St. Paulinus of Nola, a town outside Naples, where the first immigrants to the neighborhood came from. go to http://www.olmcfeast.com/ for more information on the feast.

i grew up here in the late 80's early 90s. both my parents were from williamsburg. and i lived 3 blocks from this church. this used to be sooooo much fun.

we never lived in brooklyn but we went to church at OLMC because we lived in an area that wasnt italian and we went to the feast every year and it is some of my best childhood memories
