This was our first landing of the DC-3 transcon trip from NY to Seattle. The first leg over the Adirondack mountains was uneventful. We manuevered around a few rain showers in the Rochester without a problem before this landing. To see how the rest of the trip went, go to www.kentwien.com and click on "Trips."

  • There is a lot of rudder effectiveness when the tail is in the air. And since the tail wheel is either free or locked straight (there is no tail wheel steering) it's up to the rudder, differential power or brakes to keep you straight. Taxiing is harder than flying at times!

  • Amazing man , you and your dad make a great team , you must have a great life

  • Still surprised at how fast the approach is , Great video , thanks for posting

  • I've started training in a legend cub, I struggle with landings and rudder control, great job with the landings.

  • Oops...now I saw them...lol.

  • You can see them on the right side from about 1 second to about 6 or 7

  • I see no reds and if you did, I think those are oriented to the perpendicular runway, 10/28. He landed on 7/25, which has no VASI.

  • The pilot is really good, good vid guys, BIG FAN.

  • wow for reds on the VASI...man you were low

  • I think by tapping differential brakes and a little rudder and gently forward on the yoke for a few seconds after touchdown to keep it firmly on the ground.
