Thanks you Mike I have wateched all of your well done videos and they expalin a lot of what Yaesu doesn't want to admit!.. Bought a brand new FT-2000 in Febuary 2011 pre-amp failures in July , returned from Yaesu 1st of August then Pre-amp failures on Sept. 4th this is ridiculous for the cost of the radio- FT-2000 - RFI Magnet or an expensive 2SC3356-T2B R24 Popcorn maker.. Hello Mike,
nice job with the repair. I've got situation where AMP1 go lower S indication (so a problem with this amp) BUT AMP2 is operational, S meter increase, so it's working.Could be some kind of short on first AMP (amp1) ? Thanks in advance for your input, I'll badly need that input.

Thank you for this video, due to this i have fixed my FT-2000, same problem, only the 2 R24 transistors where blown out, i contacted Yaesu UK, they have send me the new Transistors (5pcs) free of charge. perfect on the new one's is R25 now...
You have to take care offcourse ,i have solderded it with an Weller WTCP5-S station
And also put in the Diode-limiter..

Mike thanks very,very.. much for nice video..I have same problem with my FT-2000...in last contest our hf antenna filter not work properly (two radios) so we blow out the IPO preamp :o(

My preamp blew due to RFI coming in through the rear Key jack. When I plugged in the keyer and ran 1Kw it blew the preamps. I blew 9 transistors just figuring this much out. I did a lot of rewiring and general improvement of the shack grounds. Between that and the diode limiter I have had no further problems. YAY!
