Coventry Carol is a song from the 16th-century Pageant of the Shearmen and Taylors, one of only two pageants to have survived from the cycle of late medieval mystery plays of which Coventry played a part. The Pageant has roots to perhaps the 14th century, making it one of the oldest of carols.
I am continually haunted by ancient carols at Christmas, especially those in a minor key. They evoke a sense of mysticism and longing that counterpoints the joy and proclamation given to us by most other carols. Part of what makes Christmas so special to me is that mystery, so special that I wanted to share it with you.
May the Peace of the Season be with you all year long.
Merry Christmas,
Paula
I must add another comment. I'm sorry too that I never came across your video last year. Wonderful voice and guitar.

Thanks, much appreciated. I'm the one playing guitar and singing the three parts. Glad you liked it.
