The United Nations has again urged Myanmar's military authorities to ease visa restrictions so aid workers can enter the country. France has proposed invoking the UN's "responsibility to protect" in the country. That would mean they could enter the country and deliver aid without the authorities' approval, an idea that got short shrift at the UN. Al Jazeera's John Terret reports from the United Nations' headquarters in New York.

  • study a little bit more my good friend, and you'll realize the U.N owns the U.S and is runned by cartels all around the world. Since nobody knows the corruption the U.N is doing, I have a sense that we can do nothing about it, but to spread the word. I beleive in the N.W.O (New World Order) because of the actions of the U.N.

  • we should bering the UN down. It's a worthless organization! The most corrupted organization in the world! They feed on our money and all they do is ruin us! Let's get rid of UN! Let's start a campaign against it!

  • than swe is the world's biggest pussy and any chinese authority that defends him is an aid to murder. this is beyond rediculous. Swe is a scared little mutt who needs to step down so the Burmese have life

  • The United Nations MUST realize its place. They have forgotten that the reason that council was formed was to PROTECT. I oppose the "invade" idea, but negotiations from ALL sides should be pressured upon them ASAP. While that man was celebrating people were dying! If he and the President of the UN and the Secretary of Defense and all other officials cannot take this seriously and get their BUTTS in gear than I suggest they step aside for able bodies who CAN.

  • So your suggestion is that they invade Burma? A world power need to respect the policies of each country. They cannot just invade a country every time they feel the need to. No one would trust them anymore. Invasion is the last option. When it came to the Rwanda conflict, however, I agree that they failed. :(

  • The above comment is from me not from bassam1008 so don't flame him.

  • Two words a Talking Shop. All talk no action.

  • And this reason is?

  • CHINA wish to defend the Burmese military junta at the cost of thousand of innocent lives, it should at least be made to do so on the record instead of hiding behind the ideology of 'nonintervention'.

  • Sir John Holmes- 'U.N under Sec.Geneneral for Humanitarian Affairs & Emergency Relief Cordinator' is disgrace to his job title.

This is criminal delay and denial of himanitarian aid. Burmese state T.V yesterday remined citizens of their "patriotic duty" to vote in middle of all this. The Burmese regime remains focused on the referendum it plans to hold today on a new constitution that will INSTITUTIONALIZE MILITARY RULE. Just think as Burma would become a 24th province for CHINA.
