  • this program inspired me to be a nurse MANY years ago.

  • This show, and James Burke's Connections, were easily the two most influential shows I watched as a kid. Thank you so much for posting this. I can't wait to watch the episode where Miller breathes the filtered air and nearly kills himself.

  • Mysterious... holes or cavities. The... spaces or volumes.

    They were... swamped or covered.

Didn't Monty Python do a skit like this once.

  • love this whole series. thanks for posting!

  • @belisariusorb hear hear! well said!

  • Well I also remember it from first time around and I just got to show it to my son, 11. He was absolutely fascinated by it. Just goes to show that the lowered expectations of programme makers today just aren't justified by audience response. In other words, if they smarted up instead of dumbing down they wouldn't lose any audience (and they would actually fulfil the BBC Charter to Educate, Inform and Entertain in the process, instead of ignoring it.

  • I concur with Vunicorn but would add Carl Sagan's 'Cosmos' to his list. I wish the Beeb would release The Body and Question and James Burke's Connections on DVD! They'd show everyone just how poor the BBC's current science programming is.

I remember the re-breathing experiment Miller performed on the episode 'Breathless' this was an experiment we repeated in our physiology practicals when I was an under-grad.

  • Interesting documentary. I like the way Dr. Jonathan Miller presents this show.

"We can't be simply tourists in our insides ". I found that statement very thoughtful.

I am by no means an expert but I am really shocked by people's lack of knowledge of their own body parts, some of them which are really mandatory to be known. It becomes even harder to digest when a first aid specialist says he doesn't know where the kidneys are situated.

  • I love to watch any video about Dr. Miller, he is so informative!

  • Thanks so much for making this tremendous series available here. I too was just transfixed by Miller's insightful and moving presentation when the The Body In Question was broadcast all those years ago. Have been wanting to see it again ever since and am delighted to be able to do so.

  • @dosser32

I agree. I was also mesmerized by both the series. i am 44. Good memories.
