First turbaned Sikh Police Officer of New Zealand, Amaninder Singh Sandhu, performed Police "Haka" (traditional Maori warrior challenge - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haka) on October 16, 2008 as part of graduation ceremony at Royal New Zealand Police College, Wellington.

you are aloud beards in the police force? that's an awesome beard. One thing that put me off joining the police force is that I want to grow a epic beard but it looks like that is ok.

NZ Police rules allow beards, so it should not be a reason for you to not join - grow a wonderful beard man! There are certain limitations around beards, which you can negotiate with your superiors. And the most wonderful thing about New Zealand's Police hierarchy is that they do not start from the premise "it's not allowed" but "whether it may be allowed within the rules or not". In most cases, the solutions are present within the existing rules.
