  • @Tasarte Korean armies were fairly decimated by the Japanese but the Korean navy was not. The Korean navy was under the leadership of the great Admiral Yi Shoon Shin. Yi Shoon Shin realized that the best way to defeat the Japanese was to engage them in naval battles. If the Korean navy control the sea, Japanese troops in Korea could not be resupply  and were forced to withdraw back to Japan. Under Yi Shoon Shin, the Korean navy won every naval battles.

  • The Ming were utter failures in this war in reality. Actually, Admiral Yi Sunshin's own death was in part due to the incompetence and weakness of the Ming navy. Of course, this is not to say they played no part at all, but they weren't a major factor to overall Joseon victory.

  • does anyone know of the story of a samurai who helped the Koreans in the Imjin War because of the atrocities the Japanese committed against civilians? He stayed in Korea after the Imjin War and died in a village..but forgot where...
