  • This was taken in Fort Bragg, CA, which is about a (by road) 170 mile, 3.3 hour drive north of San Francisco. (We started from Santa Rosa, so it was a 120 mile, 2.5 hour drive to and from for the day trip.)

  • CWR #45 is an excellent example of the Mikado pattern, a light 2-8-2 derived from a lot of locomotives built for the Nippon Railway by Baldwin Locomotive Works; the basic design was a favorite of short lines across the lower 48.
