I know, many of you guys were curious to see another North & South video Sorry to disappoint you with that
As a Bavarian girl I am predetermined to be a Sisi fan I know the Sissi movies with Romy Schneider by heart and also explored almost all places where the real Elisabeth once lived
Last December a german channel aired a new version of Sissi I liked it very much! It wasnt that cheesy (Franz!! - Sissi!!), more dramatic. And I know, by many biographies - reading, that Sisi wasn't that loving and caring for everyone, she and Franz had a really bad relation, involving lovers, but still I liked the version very much. I had some really big problems with cutting the scenes and editing, considering, that the mini series / movie has a length of over 3 hours
Im aware, that the mini series only got aired in Italy and Germany (as far as I know), so heres a short sinopsis, maybe it can help you to understand. Also I uploaded this video to animate you guys to give this mini series a chance and maybe buy the DVD?
In 1853 Elisabeth accompanied her mother and her 18-year-old sister, Duchess Helene, on a trip to the resort of Bad Ischl, Upper Austria. Her mother hoped Helene would attract the attention of their maternal first cousin, 23-year-old Franz Joseph, then Emperor of Austria. Instead, Franz Joseph chose the 15-year old Elisabeth, and the couple were married a year later in Vienna at St. Augustine's Church on 24 April 1854.
Sixteen years old, Elisabeth had difficulty adapting to the strict etiquette practiced at the Habsburg court. She bore the emperor three children in quick succession: Archduchess Sophie of Austria (18551857, died in childhood), Archduchess Gisela of Austria (18561932), and the hoped-for crown prince, Rudolf (18581889).
The 1850s witnessed several failures of Austrian external policy: the Crimean War and break-up with Russia, and defeat in the Second Italian War of Independence. The setbacks continued in the 1860s with defeat in the Austro-Prussian War of 1866, which resulted in the Austro-Hungarian Compromise of 1867.
Elisabeth was denied any major influence on her older children's upbringing; they were raised by her mother-in-law and aunt Princess Sophie of Bavaria, who often referred to Elisabeth as a "silly young mother." Still, Elisabeth fought for her children, especially Rudolf.
In 1860, she left Vienna after contracting a lung-disease, later believed to be psychosomatic. She spent the winter in Madeira and returned to Vienna only after having visited the Ionian Islands.
In 1867, national unrest within the Habsburg monarchy caused by the rebellious Hungarians led to the founding of the AustroHungarian double monarchy. Elisabeth had always sympathized with the Hungarian cause. One of her closest friends was Count Andrássy, who later became Emperor Franz-Joseph's Foreign Minister. Reconciled and reunited with her alienated husband, she joined Franz Joseph in Budapest, where their coronation took place. [Following the imperial couple's reconciliation, Elisabeth gave birth to their fourth child, Archduchess Marie Valerie (18681924). Afterward, she took up her former life of restlessly travelling through Europe.]

DISCLAIMER: I Own Nothing, if this needs to be removed then please contact me and I will do so straight away. I am simply a fan of the mini-series.
I traveled to Vienna and Hungary last fall and discovered the tragic life of Sisi. She was forced into marrying Franz Josef, I don't think she loved him, but he loved her, it was very tragic and moving to learn of her life-she was star-crossed, poor woman. She didn't seem to be very happy. This was good of you to put this together, there isn't much on the Internet about her. I'm starting an art project about her, she was intriguing.

@WandaLusst really, do you think franz josef loved her? i mean.. maybe in the beginning but then it was also obvious that he was cheating on her. and she did not even mind. that is what i heard. but i am not sure about anything. there are so many things made up and not said... but i think they were both not happy together. they were too different
