Beautiful. Two of the profs at my school played this in a concert last night and they pretty much lulled me to sleep during this movement, it was so beautiful.

Pure and simple Horowitz - could be a solist or accompanist. IMO his interpretations make him one of the supreme musicians in addition to his unique gifts as a tonalist and technician.

This is one of the most stunning performances of anything which I have heard.
Thank you a million times for posting this.
Regards- John
PS. I have happily subsribed to you channel;-)

Thank you for uploading. This is a special interpretation. I missed it when, for some reason, I could no longer access the older upload of it on YouTube. I find that the others versions are not as good.

I recently went to a concert where a cellist played this, and I slept in it. I don't like the piece in the first place, but into gold when Rostropovich (and Horowitz!) plays it. This is one of the few pieces where Horowitz proves himself as an excellent accompanist (although this sonata needs a good pianist as much as it needs a good cellist).
P.S. I believe this is already posted on YT.

I actually tried to find this charmy record on YT, and after I failed, I realised I had to go on! Such a duet appears once in a century... That's a very important thing you say that Horowitz was an incredible accompanist!.. To be a soloist is always much more simple - and not only in music! And here we can see what kind of Musician Horowitz was... And Rostropovich!..
