  • @FakeRea1 exactly, that's why I liked the Heritage moments. Rather than just simply glorify our history, it showed our history in both it's glory and shame.

  • There's nothing wrong with asking for volunteers for dangerous but necessary work and paying them extra for successful completion. The problem was the discriminatory head tax that the Chinese (and only the Chinese) had to pay which put a lot of financial pressure on them to take those kinds of risks.

  • this was the beginning of spurning Canadian workers in favour of cheap foreign labour. lol this country was pozzed before it even began.

  • @2112murphy not proud, just aware. Watch the one that shows how torture was okay in prisons

    google A-Part-Of-Our-Heritage-Penal-Systems

  • @RabbitThugs The idea is it's part of Canadian Heritage (cultural) - it's part of our past, and it is evident in subsequent history. How long were you a citizen of Canada? I've been here ...27 years (phew) and while it's incredibly different now than even 25-20 years ago, it's important to remember what led to the present, so that we can defend it.

Not preaching to you, but if the present is taken for granted it will be lost.

  • @fringelife I still thought it was glorious.

  • i never saw this befor on tv but i saw at school on dec. 30

  • CP RAILROAD

  • I just saw this one on TV today. (nov.17th 2011)

I think they may be playing them again.

  • @MyMelody5 they had no choice. no opportunity in china, poor family, bad living conditions, thus desperation. Canada is not the only country, but you own us one. So no more discrimination!

  • Respect to those workers. They help united Canada even though they were exploited and treated like dirt at that time. Thank you!

  • @carmium Transcontinental Railroad. California to Missouri (Missouri to New York had been built up already)
