Hey, thanks for watching.
This is something I just recorded now, without any editing other then the little intro and outtro screens (I'm and Audio guy after all, not a Movie editor :P)
I've been in the Melodyne Editor beta for a while now, and I figured I should make a video demo, since I've been reading alot of comments saying things like "Fake! this is never going to be released!". While I cant truly confirm that it will be released (final version that is), the beta is quite usefull.
In this video, I pull up a chord that was sitting in my Sample library, unused. I Decided to use Melodyne Editor's Direct Note Access technology, DNA, to split up the notes, and make a small melody out of it.
I use the key snap function in this video, and I also breifly used the note editor mode. Note editor is the way of correcting any errors DNA may have made, because of things like Overtones. In this mode, you can choose what is a complete note, and what is an overtone, just a part of the other notes.
Another neat feature is copy and paste, something that wasnt availible in Melodyne Plugin, or other lower end editions of melodyne. I use this feature quite a few times here, to create the (VERY) simple melody.
I hope you enjoy the video, and be sure to check out melodyne here: http://www.celemony.com/cms/

P.S. I just have to say im REALLY sorry for the bad video quality, and the out of sync sound. unfortunately, I recorded the desktop at 1600x1200 resolution, which doesnt size down so nicely, and the audio is the fault of bad .AVI encoding. anyways, on with the info!

  • Hey great video! but htis may sound stupid....How do i get to that editor? mine looks different...could u please tell me how to get there? thanks! subbed!

  • @Beatz41Productions under the algrorithm menu, press "melodic"

  • I dont understand how you are doing this!

I downloaded the demo of Editor and if I do what you do and move the notes anywhere i get a phasy chorusly mess that sounds terrible.

This is espeically true with notes in a chord, if you remove any part of the chord that was played at the same time it creates a disgusting artifact. Yet, here you seem to make it work without any trouble at all.

Do you have any idea what you are doing differently to me? Ive tried it on lots of material

  • hey Edbrad, I know exactly what your problem is. (this is a new concept, so get ready) you need to use the note assignment tool. melodyne can only provide an "educated guess" at which notes are notes, and what is part of another note (called overtones). the note editor tool lets you choose what is an overtone, and what is a note. I use it for a few seconds at the beginning of this video. this tool will take alot of practice to get good at it. good luck!

  • WOW this is one of the best examples I've seen of DNA. Any chance you can put up a guitar riff with some vibrato or a brass quartet? Cant wait till the final release!!

  • I'll see what I can do. the just released a newer beta, so im still going through the manual before I upload anything.
