  • Why they make them turn around?

  • A holdover from the Woolery days--I guess so that no player gets an advantage over the others by figuring out the puzzle during the break; just to keep things fair.

  • No, we were greedy. I never got to say "I'd like to buy a vowel". But then, the thought didn't really occur to me, I stupidly thought whatever I spun, or whatever letter I called, would go my way.

That car stereo by the way, is long gone, when I turned in my '82 Olds Ciera in 1993. The tape deck broke 6 months after I installed it in '88, but the radio still worked OK

  • Valerie's looks and acts so adorable. She's definitely a joy for WOF to have as a contestant. :)

  • I solved frozen yougurt when it was revealed

  • I wish they'd bring back the full, large "FREE SPIN" space, but I know that will never happen...

and tomxconn @ your comment RE: the contestants turning around, there is one fatal flaw to that method, and that is that one could still figure out what the puzzle was in one's head during the break without ever NEEDING to look at the board, if the puzzle was sufficiently memorized.

  • Especially when the dollar values were much smaller back then.

  • I'm 30 seconds into the first puzzle, and I think it's "frozen yogurt"?????

  • It's familiar.

  • People weren't so quick to buy vowels back then were they?
