@logik316 i know that. i have been homeless on the beach in florida. i was being facetious. but in the town i lived in there were only certain parts of the beach off limits at night. people slept all over the beach in the area where the nightclubs were and the police seldom disturbed them, but on other beaches i think the local reason was fear of someoen being victim of crime. ty

Officially, the reason for beach closing hours is to keep people from going swimming when no lifeguard is present. Unofficially, I'm sure the rule is often enforced mainly as a deterrent against the homeless.

@logik316 yeah i always found that amusing that ethy only alloow you on a public beach during specific hours. what is the point? do they think someone is going to steal the sand?

I don't think there's anything illegal about sleeping on a beach, but a lot of them do have closing hours. Homeless or not (and whether or not you're sleeping), you can get fined for being there when you're not supposed to.

poor people can not afford to live near the beach anywhere in the US. people who live near the beach think that they are a different species of human. people can come sunbathe on the beach and sleep all day and not be bothered but a homeless person lying on the beach next to them doing the same thing is a criminal. its bullshit

there are a few bums in venice that are nice and respectful! i will admit to that! but 90% of them are very mean and just flat out disrespectful! they act like they are the ones paying $500,000 for a home in venice and property taxes and spending $ @ shops contributing to the community! and most of the bums here now are people that knew about the expensive cost of living in la before they came! they came to be in the laid back atmosphere that is venice! and they bitch when they arrive!

just two weeks ago two bums were outside of y house next to my car ! one had his jacket and beer bottle on my hood and i wanted to say something but i gave them the benefit of doubt and left them alone. they didnt even know i had seen them!! sure enough 15 min later i hear a broken bottle getting busted in my driveway. I looked out as they walked away as if nothing had happened!! i yelled out at them and they just started running and laughing !! (it just gets old !! they do it to themselves !!)

everyone talking shit needs to shut the fuck up unless they live in venice !! the bums down here are HOORIBLE!! they tresspass and harass others that are paying good money to live in the spot they are in and bums vandalize without a care in the world about other members of the community or the community in itself !! they stay drunk or on drugs and account for 80% of the crime in venice!!
