On Tuesday 27th Sep 2011 I was on a British Airways (747-400) flight from Heathrow to Washington Dulles. This video was taken somewhere over North America (potentially we were still over Canada). I saw we were parallel to another aircraft and then I noticed it coming towards us.

Although I'm 99% certain there is nothing wrong with the separation here (I understand the FAA vertical separation minimum above FL290 was 2000ft but has since been reduced to 1000ft minimum - see here: http://www.faa.gov/about/office_org/headquarters_offices/ato/service_units/en...), it's certainly the closest I have come to another airliner whilst flying (that I have seen!). So I thought I would share it with you.

It must have looked interesting from the ground.
