The best evidence that UFOs represent spacecraft from other worlds consists of grainy photographs, blurry videos, and anecdotes about things that go bump in the night. In this episode Michael Shermer shows how easy it is to fake UFO photographs, enlisting the help of children and disposable cameras to create convincing photographic evidence that even fooled experts!

  • @DKGSi No. it's your "faith/belief" they saw something alien. They say they saw something unidentified, some think they saw flying saucers. It could be a foreign program from an enemy, not alien. It could be a program by the States, not alien. It could be from another dimension on earth, and not extra terrestrial at all. The videos/pictures are most likely fake, so when somebody sees something they can't describe, they may call it a UFO or flying saucer. You have not played the role of a Skeptic.

  • @wildchildsk

The role of a skeptic is not to state what AS FACT, exists or does not exist, It asks reasonable proof to support the claims of people who say these things DO exist. Skeptics don't rely on faith/belief or hear-say, they want proof. The mathematics show we are most likely NOT the only life in the universe, but prove it with something more than easily reproducible images and so called conspiracies + testimonies of people who THINK they saw something alien.

  • @beatledude Shermer never made this clip out to disprove UFOs, only to show how photos aren't reliable. He had nothing to say about eyewitness accounts here. He goes into that in some of his books, although I'm on the fence about UFOs being spaceships or not. The photos are still unreliable. Eyewitness accounts are also less reliable than you think; our cognition and memory are prone to all kinds of errors and biases. My grandparents once saw a UFO--but they give contradictory accounts.

  • @Nachalnika Dude, calm down. There's no need for harsh language; you won't get one single person to take you seriously that way. Were you aware that the UFOs in old paintings are generally seen as representations of saints and angels? I recommend looking into the skeptical analysis before dismissing it--your evidence may not be as good as you think. If you disagree, explain why--calmly, please. Xenu bless.

  • I have seen 2x the sphere-shaped bright objects and I believe these where real and unexplained by flares or sun reflection or anything like that. But most number of the cases, where the UFO's are saucer-shaped, are affected by the knowledge of WW2 Germany efforts on the saucer-shaped vehicles powered by electromagnetic force. and these photos are no doubt the imagination + hoaxes.

  • (Last pt.) You say they didn't see what they said, or implied lying...then when it's proven (perhaps the Military has spoken up, or Chinese lanterns etc...) you then smile and say you were right TOTALLY MISSING the fact that you accused people of being nuts and seeing things....Of course it's easy to be fooled (your dopey demonstration)...but that doesn't mean squat either. Have a little respect if some on tells you what they saw...BTW, I don't believe you actually exist either.

  • (Pt. 2) They were'n't a figment of my imagination...nor a planet or helicopter. Experimental Military...maybe...Somebodys modified model plane, who knows? But, I'm not nuts, and if you were really fair you'd admit, that you DON'T know everything and it ALL can't be explained. There IS genuinely mysterious things that can occasionally happen. You are wrong often with your opinions-and when proven so, you simply flip and say, 'Ah ha..see, I told you'. That is , I've seen you 'dispcredit people...

  • Here's the problem Mr. Shermer. You are a professional nay sayer. The tone of your voice while saying 'the very idea of of alien beings in space crafts from another planet' is annoying. I'm not a nut. I don't know, or even give a Sh*t if they're real BUT...I have seen three 'UFO's They were unidentified...and flying. The assumption then that I automatically (as well as many others) fall in to the category of 'alien believers' is ridiculous. I'm simply stating that they were really there.

  • well now he has to discredit that Turkish 2007 vid of that UFO. thats harder.

  • Yeah! You tell it!

  • Yeah go on fake stuff !! Look at the paintings of Jesus christ u can see UFOs drawn as in those times understandings and how low you hold the self made UFOs !!! I want to see your faces when one of them lands right on top or outside of your houses !! Go eat shit fucking fakers !! You are all faking things because you prefer it this way not to tell the truth cause all you know in this world is lies and rather not start the panic , it has always been like this in this world !!! Yeah anyone can fa
