John Sturges' formalist masterpiece is also a progressive studio movie confronting post-WW2 racism. Andre Previn's possibly career-best music score turns up again in, of all places, the "Forbidden Planet" trailer!

  • Great hollywood CLASSIC and one of the best Cinemascope films ever as best use of widescreen I ever seen!!

  • this is such a great film. the cast is filled with great actors. spencer tracy is wonderful in this film and borgnine is a real bastard.love robert ryan and lee marvin who in real life were war heroes.i heard that tracy did not want to do the movie,so the studio said fine we''ll get allan ladd who was busy at the time but tracy didn't know this and after a few days changed his mind. good thing he did.

  • [R.J.'s been cocky since he murdered Natalie Wood.]

  • Respond to this video... I remember Joe Dakota,I love these old movies

  • Jock Mahoney made a similar Western movie called "Joe Dakota", but the difference was the owner of the property was an Indian who had oil found on it. The

nice folks in town found an excuse to hang him.

  • Vraiment un super film et des supers paysages aussi!
