@JaysGOP YES! The only reason anyone should have for hating a band is because s/he assessed their music and decided for themselves that it sucked. As long as a music listener isn't basing their animosity, for an artist or band, off of image or media portrayal, then that's alright.
Also the idea that any band can be universally popular goes against the premise that music is suppose to be subjective.

I prefer the original 50s style, but it's stupid to say that Green Day murdered the song or that they suck. It's a punk re-interpretation. it's just different.
