@iTechMore I screwed up a little—I have do have a UPS (got it for $20 at a yard sale + a $20 replacement lead battery). When the power went out, but the USB cable to it wasn't plugged in (not sure why). All good now. :D
-
@iTechMore I'll report back! :D

@lvpd742 One thing that I can tell is can support more than 1 monitor. :) And actually, I didn't plan to have two gpu's for Mac. It's intended for gaming in Windows.
-
really noob question but whats the benefit of two gpu's? does the comp choose which one to use?
-
@Paulynices It's i7-950
-
@iTechmore by the way, I never did catch it, what exact CPU did you use for this build?
-
@Paulynices I couldn't agree with you more. :)
-
@iTechMore Yeah, I definitely love MBP as well and I would totally go buy one if I had the $2000 to spare, the other reason I was thinking about getting a desktop is that with memory and cpu intensive programs, such as logic pro, my desktop would run MUCH cooler than the laptop and that makes me feel better..... I kindof have a weird thing about keeping my electronics running cool.
-
@Paulynices Btw, I love MBP so much.

@Paulynices It's stable and Mac OS is my primary boot. I used iMovie to edit this movie.
All my usb devices are working fine, except Voip usb device (USB-B2K). The problem is application for voip usb device. It conflicts with wireless usb DLink DWA-140 application. But I have a workaround: I run Windows 7 on Parallels Desktop to use USB-B2K. :)
I use Logitech webcam as a mic input and I believe internal mic should work as well. :)

@iTechMore Hey, thanks for the video. I was considering changing out my motherboard and CPU to an i7 and the X58A-UD3R instead of buying a MBP. My reason for wanting to build a hackintosh is to be able to have a decently stable platform for doing audio editing. Sooo, my question is, how is the stability so far, and are all your usb and audio ports working? Also, have you tested out a mic?
Thanks!
Man—I have this same setup, except for the bios upgrade…and my box crashes every 8 days. I have NO idea what the problem is.

@keysignify It's using DSDT from FF bios version. Please try to upgrade firmware.

@iTechMore Okay. I upgraded the BIOS to FF, and I used TonyMac's DSDT. I won't know if my box is stable for another few weeks. Can you tell me what your longest uptime has been?—or what your uptime is right now?
keysignify 8 months ago
@keysignify I'd say a 100% stable. :) I think better to say 99.99%. :)
Remember to use DSDT from FF version.

@iTechMore I figured out why my system was acting up. (1) The filesystem was jacked up, (2) the smbios.plist wasn't correct, and (3) some files were corrupted. I upgraded to Lion, created a proper smbios.plist, and I got 2 months of uptime before a power outage shut me down. (:

@keysignify UPS will help. Many affordable UPS in the market. :)
