  • "...the brain is responsible for consciousness."

  • @freedomland11 the higher power thing is completely unnecessary. it's such a vague concept, it practically claims nothing, other than that the universe as a whole is very awesome and far beyond our understanding, the only claim it really seems to make is that some sort of consciousness or being created all the matter in the universe. You must see that this is a stupid thing to say, how would this being fabricate the matter, what would it's raw materials be? Why would it do this? etc.

  • I am so glad I watched this.

  • @thprfssnl1

    His comment indeed makes sense.

You see, the difference between belief and science is that science is made up out cold, raw facts.

Whatever you want to believe, it will not change the initial fact of that particular subject. (I.e A cat will still be a cat, even if you believe it's a cow).

That means that a atheist cannot disagree on something that has been proved and use "faith" as the excuse to be wrong.

Because that's what faith is. An excuse to be wrong against better knowing.

  • @MCSKeelar

    Indeed.

  • @thesearewarningsigns

Also, probably one of the more difficult questions to ask:

What being created this being that created the universe? (If you believe that everything needs to have a comprehensive start and end. I can't say I really do).

  • "I can't quite bring myself to call myself bright... I don't mind calling religious people dim, on the other hand.

  • @LogicalStatements1 Yeah and religion is holding us back.

  • Intelligence is the next stage of human evolution, IMO.

  • @thprfssnl1 nope you've ignored my point. self praise is no praise and red herring is a red herring regardless how you dress it up. Dawkins has all the zeal of a true believer, His crusade/jihad disregards anything that doesn't fit in his pre-arrived at worldview. on 9/11 he stands shoulder to shoulder with many of the types of fundies that are his bug bear otherwise. He could share a fox hole with some in Helmand, you could envisage almost and it doesn't get closer than that.

  • @kennyznewpal @kennyznewpal who completely ignored my point which is a shame because it was a good one. I am saying that Dawkins is saying all religions should be scrutinized like any other ideology. Comparing that idea to the US fundamentalist right is foolish and the weakest kind of argument, they would be just as upset with this idea.
